Zimbabwe Market Watch | 2nd July 2015: Zimbabwe equities continue in red zone, market cap gives away US$21 Mill…

Harare, Zimbabwe (Capital Markets in Africa):– The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) industrial index and market capitalization continued see red at the end of the day’s session.

The industrial index tumbled by -0.67 percent or a further 0.67 points on Wednesday’s session to end at 146.23 points, stretching the year-to-date to -10.17 percent and -21.58 on year-on-year basis. The mining index also tumbled by -2.70 percent or -2.70 percent to settle at 39.64 points (-44.72 percent and 31.69 percent year-to-date and year-on-year return respectively).

The market capitalization ended at US$ 3.802 billion, by giving away US$21 million (against 3.824 billion market cap recorded at yesterday’s trading session).

The market activity was buoyant though with a turnover of US$1.846 million (relative to US$1,545 recorded at it’s previous trading session) exchanged in 19 traded securities via 49 trade transactions.

Foreign investor bought US$1.23 million and foreign sells US$858,072 at end of today’s trading sessions. Out of the 19 traded securities, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe led the activity with 1,819,500 traded securities at US$636,825 with a price of US$35 however INNSCOR Africa Limited led the volume purchases recording 1,011,704 traded securities at US$607,022 with a price of US$60. Likewise, Delta Corporation Limited recorded 245,835 traded volumes at US$223,962, African Distillers recorded 16,702 at US$16,702 and Dairibond Holding Limited registered 1,982 buys at US$8.00.

On the market price advancers and decliners, four securities ended in the green region and four ended in the red region. In the green district African Sun Limited surged by 25.00 percent or 0.50 points  to trade at 2.50 cents and Hippo Valley Estates Limited lept by 8.57 percent or 3.00 points to close at 38.00 cents. Likewise, Old Mutual Plc lept 1.47 percent gaining 3.99 points to settle at US$274.00 and ZIMRE Property Investment Limited gained 1.21 percent or 0.01 cents to end at 0.83 cents

Conversely, Turnall Holdings Limited lost (-25.00 cents at 1.05 cents) as well as Bindura Nickel Corporation Limited (down by -8.57 percent or -0.30 cent to settle at 3.20 cents on 4,203 securities). Still in the red district, Pretoria Portland Cement Limited plunged by -4.16 percent or -5.00 cents with a closing price of 115.00 cents.
