Morocco Equity Watch | 19 Aug 2015: Casablanca bourse sustains the bull runs … market cap MAD 750 million up

Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) continued the northward trend by adding 0.20 points to close at 9,517.02 points (with a year-to-date performance to -1.07 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 485.159 billion (an increase of MAD 750 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 484.409) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 17.998 million.

Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,788.09 points (advanced by 0.19 percent compared to previous trading session). Also, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index surged by 0.25 percent to close at 8,446.37 points (-4.24 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index advanced by 0.04 percent to end at 7,995.10 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to 0.82 percent).

In term of sector indices, top gainers were Oil & GasMaterials, Software & Computer Services and Chemicals sector indices surged by 1.46 percent, 1.39 percent and 1.16 percent respectively. On the other hand, Transport sector index (plunged by 4.44 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 27.22 percent), Mining sector index (declined by 3.16 percent to end at -13.06 percent year-to-date return) and Forestry & Paper sector index (went down by 1.42 percent).

Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the leaders’ were, JET CONTRACTORS advanced by 4.90 percent to end at MAD 214.00 and HPS surged by 3.26 percent to settle at MAD 475.00. Likewise, SONASID gained 3.15 percent or MAD 22.00 with closing price of MAD 720.00 as well as S.M MONETIQUE rose by 2.94 percent to conclude at MAD 210.00. On the contrary, MANAGEM and MICRODATA sagged by 6.00 percent (to settle at MAD 821.60) and 5.52 percent (to end at MAD 118.10) respectively.  Equally, STROC INDUSTRIE and SMI plummeted by 2.83 percent (with closing price of MAD 103.00) and 1.64 percent (to settle at MAD 2,700.00) respectively.
