Morocco Equity Watch | 1 July 2015: Morocco equity markets reverts to red …Market cap MUR 1.1 billion, indices down

Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity market reverted to the south pole after yesterday gains. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) slid by 0.33 percent to close at 9,546.32 points (with a year-to-date performance to -0.77 percent).  On the same note, the Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,809.08 points, by losing 0.36 percent compared to previous trading session. However, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index faintly surged by 0.03 percent to close at 8,345.58 points (-5.38 percent year-to-date performance) but FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index slumped by 0.46 percent to end at 7,936.07 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -1.55 percent).

The market capitalization was recorded at MAD 485.609 billion after falling by MAD 1.11 billion (relative to yesterday’s market cap of MAD 486.715  billion). The market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 105.379 million (lower than MAD 365.794 million recorded at previous trading session). The five top most actively traded stocks by value were ITISSALAT AL-MAGHRIB (MAD 23.274 million), CIMENTS DU-MAROC (MAD 15.497 million), ATTIJARIWAFA Bank (MAD 5.843 million) and DOUJA PROM ADDOHA Morocco (MAD 3.602 million).

With regard to sector indices, top gainers were Beverages, Telecommunications and Chemicals sector indices climbed by 4.29 percent, 2.13 percent and 1.00 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Holding Companies sector index (plunged by 5.14 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -8.22 percent), Leisure & Hotels sector index (declined by 4.68 percent to end at -24.70 percent year-to-date return) and Oil & Gas sector index (went down by 2.70 percent).

Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, MAGHREB OXYGENE surged by 5.83 percent to end at MAD 109.00 and TIMAR climbed by 5.78 percent to settle at MAD 434. Likewise, BRASSERIES DU MAROC added 5.06 percent or MAD 106.00 with closing price of MAD 2,220.00 as well as PROMO PHARM  advanced by 2.54 percent to conclude at MAD 869.00.

Conversely, ALLIANCES and FENIE BROSSETE dropped by 10.00 percent (to settle at MAD 63.45) and 5.64 percent (to end at MAD 122.20) respectively.  Similarly, MINIERE TOUISSIT and RISMA fell by 5.58 percent (with closing price of MAD 1,100.00) and 4.68 percent (to settle at MAD 202.55) respectively.
