Mauritius Equity Watch | 29 July 2015: Mauritius equities stay in green… SEMDEX index add 0.12%

Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — On Wednesday, trading on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius continued in green for five consecutive trading days. Therefore, the Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) climbed by 0.12 percent or 2.32 points to close at 1,971.31 points and the SEM10 index closed at 377.72 points after marginally gaining 0.23 points or 0.06 percent.

The market capitalization recorded MUR 219.182 billion (relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 217.925 billion) by adding MUR 1.26 billion. The overall total volume trade was registered at 4.327 million (an increase relative to 1.645 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 33.607 million (a decrease relative to MUR 48.474 million recorded at previous trading session).

The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings recorded 3.660 million (almost 39 percent of total volume) at MUR 3.253 million and CIM Financial Services Limited registered 255,022 traded stocks amounted to MUR 2.244 million. CIEL Limited Mauritius traded 74,886 stocks at MUR 515.216 and MCB Group got a total volume of 60,434 shares at MUR 13.439 million. INNODIS Limited also recorded 41,100 shares at MUR 2.055 million.

From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 28 traded securities there were 3 price gainers and 4 price losers as well as 11 remained unchanged. The price advancers were Swan General Limited added 11.11 percent to end at MUR 400.00, TERRA Mauritius closed at MUR 30.50after adding 1.67 percent and POLICY Mauritius edged up by 0.58 percent to close at MUR 6.90.

On the contrary, the four losers were DALE Capital Mauritius, which emerged as the top loser by losing 12.14 percent to close at MUR 2.46. The second top loser was Phoenix Beverages Limited with a price reduction of 2.38 percent to trade at MUR 390.25. Likewise, Mauritius Development Investment Trust tumbled by 0.76 percent to settle at MUR 5.20 and ENL Land Limited fell by 0.21 percent to end at MUR 46.0.

The DEMEX index lost 0.78 points or 0.37 percent to close at 206.09 points. The market capitalization went down by MUR 184 million to close at MUR 48.981 (against MUR 49.165 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 27.091 million exchanged in 408,092 million traded securities. There were two gainers, Livestock (Preference) and EUDCOS to close at MUR 23.50 after adding 2.17 percent and MUR 14.00 by gaining 0.72 percent respectively.  However, BHARAT Telecommunication fell by 20.00 percent to trade at MUR 33.60, FIDES plunged by 0.75 percent to close at MUR 71.00, United Investment plummeted by 3.23 percent to close MUR 13.15 and Constance Hotel tumble by 0.27 percent to settle at MUR 36.40.
