Mauritius Equity Watch | 23 July 2015: Positive momentum continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, market cap adds MUR 38 Mil

Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Positive momentum continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius today. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) marginally added 0.02 percent or 0.35 points to close at 1,953.54 points and the SEM10 index closed at 373.07 points by gaining 0.17 points or 0.05 percent.

The market capitalization settled at MUR 217.189 billion (relative to yesterday’s market capitalization of MUR 217.151 billion) by adding MUR 38 million. The overall total volume trade was registered at 8.605 million (a rise relative to 4.750 million recorded yesterday). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 33.379 million (a reduction relative to MUR 60.547 million recorded at previous trading session).

The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings Mauritius had 7.894 million at MUR 6.867 million and POLICY recorded 208,200 traded stocks amounted to MUR 1.429 million. CIEL Limited  traded 116,194 stocks at MUR 799,098 and Mauritius Oil & Refineries got a total volume of 100,000 shares at MUR 2.750 million.

From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of the 23 traded securities there were 4 price gainers and 4 price decliners. The three prices advancers were MCB Group advanced by 0.46 percent with a closing price of MUR 217.00, Lux Island Resorts closed at MUR 61.75 after gaining 0.41 percent, GEMMA CIVIC closed at MUR 27.10 advancing by 0.37 percent and Rogers Limited ended at MUR 29.60 by adding 0.34 percent.

On the losing side, Mauritius Development Investment Trust emerged as the top loser to close at MUR 5.20 by losing 1.32 percent. Other price losers were News Mauritius Hotels plunged by 1.32 percent to trade at MUR 18.75, TERRA plummeted by 0.64 percent to settle at MUR 31.20 and CIEL Limited tumbled by 0.58 percent to end at MUR 6.88.

The DEMEX index added 0.19 percent or 0.39 points to close at 207.80 points. Likewise, the market capitalization increased by MUR 94 million to close at MUR 49.386 (against MUR 49.292 billion recorded yesterday). The total value traded was MUR 3.733 million exchanged in 99,743 traded securities. SODIA lost 8.57 percent to trade at MUR 0.32  but ENL Investment surged by 1.70 percent to close at MUR 47.90. Also, CIEL Textile Limited gained 0.79 percent to close MUR 38.30.
