Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 305.27 to 303.65 points, a drop of 0.53 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.42 percent at 303.47 points against 304.76 points previously.

The equity market capitalization gained XOF 32 billion (about US$54.3 million) to close at XOF 7,489 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,520 billion.

The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 173,960 traded stocks relative to 43,314 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,204.222 million (against XOF 1,422.097 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 250 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK Transnational Incorporated Togo with 69,084 traded securities (accounted for about 39.71 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 862.066 million contributing nearly 39.11 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 12.05 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.45.

From the market movers’ angle, out of the 29 traded securities today, 6 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witnessed price drops and 14 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price advancers by gaining 2.04 percent to end at XOF 25,000. ONATEL BURKINA FASO soared by 0.75 percent at XOF 13,500 and TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 309,005 after surging by 0.51 percent. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE share price climbed by 0.02 percent to close at XOF 26,005 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 82,005 after rising by 0.01 percent.

On the contrary, UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE dipped by 3.06 percent to settle at XOF 28,500 as the biggest loser and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 2.07 percent to trade at XOF 71,000. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 1.98 percent to close at XOF 28,530 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION TOGO lower by 1.82 percent to trade at XOF 54.00. BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO traded at XOF 119,000 after dipping by 0.83 percent.

From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index dipped by 0.68 percent at 162.46 points and public utilities sector index dropped 0.15 percent to end at 842.42 points. Also, financial services sector index declined by 0.93 percent to end at 109.87 points and distribution sector index fell by 0.22 percent to end at 572.55 points. The agriculture sector index grew by 0.01 percent to close at 195.26 points and transportation sector index remained unchanged to settle at 950.20 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
