Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 291.73 to 292.38 points, a gain of 0.22 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.13 percent to 293.17 against 292.79 points previously.

The equity market capitalization gained XOF 9 billion (about US$16 million) to close at XOF 7,234 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,225 billion.

The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 68,421 traded stocks relative to 138,720 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 817.846 million (against XOF 961.234 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 25 traded securities via 223 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECONBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 28,228 traded securities (accounted for almost 41 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 211.412 million contributing nearly 26 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 5.98 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.35.

Out of the 25 traded securities today, 9 stocks experienced price gains, 8 witnessed price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price mover after adding 4.17 percent to end at XOF 125,000. TOTAL SENEGAL jumped by 1.92 percent at XOF 26,500 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL traded at XOF 85,500 after climbing by 1.79 percent. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE share price soared by 0.92 percent to close at XOF 106,900 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO closed at XOF 12,100 with 0.92 percent gains.

On the losers’ table, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 7.13 percent to settle at XOF 26,005 as the biggest loser and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE decelerated by 5.45 percent to trade at XOF 78,000. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 2.83 percent to close at XOF 24,000 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 2.44 percent to trade at XOF 80,000. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 26,000 after declining by 1.89 percent.

From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index declined by 1.01 percent at 162.06 points but public utilities sector index surged by 0.66 percent to end at 797.17 points. The distribution sector index sagged by 1.08 percent to end at 551.08 points but financial services sector index added 0.20 percent to end at 108.03 points. Agriculture sector index grew by 0.02 percent to trade at 195.04 points. Miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 555.56 and Transportation sector index remained steady at 925.22points.
