Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 305.95 to 305.30 points, a drop of 0.21 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.04 percent at 306.11 points against 306.23 points previously.

The equity market capitalization grew by XOF 2.9 billion (about US$5.0 1million) to close at XOF 7,554 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,557 billion.

The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 103,679 traded stocks relative to 68,267 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,266.624 million (against XOF 968.645 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 220 deals.

Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 58,860 traded securities (accounted for about 56.8 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 690.246 million contributing nearly 54.5 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 10.09 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.65.

From the market movers’ perspectives, out of the 30 traded securities today, 12 stocks experienced price gains, 8 witnessed price drops and 10 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the gainers zone, MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by gaining 6.00 percent to end at XOF 4,240. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 5.63 percent at XOF 90,000 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 220,000 by adding 3.77 percent. NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE share price rose by 3.13 percent to close at XOF 49,500 and BICI COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 103,000 after adding 3.00 percent.

On the losers’ chart, ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO skid by 3.70 percent to settle at XOF 52 as the biggest loser and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL plunged by 3.53 percent to trade at XOF 82,000. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 3.22 percent to close at XOF 28,500. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE lost 1.92 percent to settle at XOF 25,500 and SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE somersaulted by 1.78 percent to trade at XOF 165,005.

From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index lost 1.10 percent at 163.69 points but public utilities sector index advanced by 0.86 percent to end at 840.01 points. Financial services sector index sagged by 1.56 percent to end at 111.37 points and distribution sector index went up by 0.11 percent to end at 583.09 points. The agriculture sector index surged by 0.23 percent to close at 195.41 points. The transportation sector index added 3.80 percent to settle at 1,065.63 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
