Gaborone, Botswana (Capital Markets in Africa):-  Shares of Domestic companies continued on the up today as the DCI main and local LASI indices recorded an increase minimal although the FCI continued with no change. The market capitalisation saw increases, along with price movements, helping to add to the positive sentiment.

The Botswana Domestic Composite Index (DCI) was up 15 points to close at BWP 10,721.48 up  0.15 percent from its previous close of 10,705.69.

The Foreign Composite Index (FCI)  remained fairly flat registering a slight change of -0.02 points to close at 1,571.83 points down on the previous days session.

The Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) was up 15 points closing at 797.62 up 0.02 percent from its previous close of 797.48. (LASI is made up of the domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded the local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and development planning.)

From a market activity perspective, the daily volume settled at 1,999,256 shares traded and the turnover settled at BWP 9,115,531.44 for the 25.498 million Securities issued.

Likewise, the equity market capitalization saw an improvement of BWP 70.69 Million in this trading session to settle at BWP 421,27up from the BWP 421,205.82 million recorded at the end of yesterday’s session.

Looking at the price movers’, 3 Domestic companies recorded price changes, 2 towards the green zone and 1 towards the red zone. Cresta was up BWP 2 to close the day at BWP 97 and G4S gained BWP 1 to settle at BWP 250.

LETSHEGO however was down BWP -1 to close the day on BWP 320..

In terms of Volumes LETSHEGO shares registered 1,806,137 traded securities for the day for the 2,184, that it has issued enabling it to deliver a turnover of BWP 503,173.45.
