Gaborone, Botswana (Capital Markets in Africa):- The BSE Equity Markets indices were all flat in todays session as the DCI main and local LASI indices recorded no further increases. Market capitalisation saw a slight increase up along with 5 price increases, ensuring the markets ended the day on a flatline. The FCI index also continued to plateau with minimal changes recorded over the last few days.
The Botswana Domestic Composite Index (DCI) recorded no major changes to close at BWP 10,834.80 up 0.15 points (0.00 percent) from its previous close of 10,834.65.
The Foreign Composite Index (FCI) was also flat today registering no change of -0.00 percent to close at 1571.76 or down -0.00 points from its close of 1,571.76 points recorded in the previous days session.
The Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) was also flat closing at 798.64 again recording no change from its previous close of 798.64 (LASI is made up of the domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded the local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and development planning.)
From a market activity perspective, the daily volume settled at 1,341,722 shares traded which were exchanged from the 25.712 million Securities issued bringing the turnover of those shares traded to BWP 7,357.
The equity market capitalization settled at BWP 421,795.65 million recorded at the end of the day’s session.
Looking at the price movers’, there were 4 Domestic companies that recorded price changes to the green zone and 1 to the red zone. Moving towards the green zone were CHOPPIES up BWP 35 to close at BWP 490 per share, Cresta up BWP 2 to close the day at BWP 100 per share, SEFALANA up BWP 1 to close at BWP 1251 per share, Turnstar up BWP 1 to close at BWP 272 per share,
On the losing side was FNBB losing BWP -1 to settle at BWP 392 per share.
