Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 20 Aug 2015: Equities trading on BRVM ends in red … financial sector 1.32% down

Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 305.12 to 304.27 points, a drop of 0.28%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.23% to 299.99 against 300.69 points previously.

The equity market capitalization added XOF 17 billion (about US$26 million) to close at XOF 7,403 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,420 billion.

The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 430,471 traded stocks relative to 194,631 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,185 million (against XOF 1,122 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 227 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 394,698 traded securities (accounted for almost 92 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 575.475 million contributing nearly about 49 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 26.15 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.33.

Among the 29 traded securities today, 8 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer by adding 6.92 percent to end at XOF 27,800. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE increased by 6.81 percent at XOF 19,750 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 83,500 by climbing by 3.09 percent. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE price advanced by 2.13 percent to close at XOF 24,000 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 16,300 with 1.88 percent gains.

UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 5.45 percent to settle at XOF 26,000 as the biggest loser and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE slid by 3.33 percent to close at XOF 72,500. Likewise, BICI COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 3.25 percent to close at XOF 89,015 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO dropped 1.69 percent to trade at XOF 58. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE price traded at XOF 104,500 after plummeting 1.42 percent.

From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index went down by 0.12 percent at 164.92 points but public utilities sector index surged by 0.19 percent to close at 833.70 points. The distribution sector index rose by 0.29 percent to end at 541.80 points but financial services sector index plummeted by 1.32 percent to end at 106.66 points. The agriculture sector index rose by 0.94 percent to close at 205.62 points. Transportation sector index remained flat at 901.36 and miscellaneous sector index remained steady at XOF 561.79 points.
