Tanzania Equity Watch | 18 Aug 2015: Tanzania equity markets return to green zone … Swissport tops gainers’ chart

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- On Tuesday Tanzania equity markets returned to green district. The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) added 0.65 points or 0.03 percent to close at 2,577.42 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index advanced by 12.93 points or 0.28 percent to close at 4,594.82 points.

The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index surged by 37.70 points or 1.30 percent to close at 2,948.06 points but the Industrial & Allied sector index tumbled by 9.57 points or 0.15 percent to end at 6,232.17 points. Commercial services sector index gained 100.45 percent or 2.63 points to close at 3,915.59 points.

The market capitalization increased by TZS 5.67 billion (about US$2.7 million) to end at TZS 22,554 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,548 billion recorded at previous trading session.

Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 152.69 million from 253,457 shares traded in 85 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 306.72 million from 149,211 shares traded in 72 deals. CRDB had 233,291 shares traded in 49 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 16,663 shares in 10 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 75 shares in 4 deals. Swissport Tanzania Limited had 266 shares in 7 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 2,661 shares traded in 9 deals.

On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with 3 gainers and 6 losers. The gainers were Swissport Tanzania Limited closed at TZS 7,260 after adding 3.42 percent and National Microfinance Bank grew by 2.22 percent to end at TZS 2,760 and Acacia Mining Limited surged by 1.73 percent to end at TZS 8,220.

On the losers’ table, KCB Group emerged as the top losers by dropping 2.04 percent with a closing price of TZS 960. Other losers were DCB Commercial Bank declined by 1.59 percent at TZS 630, Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited tumbled by 1.58 percent to trade at TZS 3,740 and East Africa Breweries Limited closed at TZS 6.270 after gaining by 0.32 percent. National Media Group dropped 0.27 percent to close at TZS 3,690 and Jubilee Holdings Limited closed at TZS 11,520 after losing by 0.26 percent.
