Morocco Market Watch | June 22nd 2015: Morocco equity market begins the week on a negative mood, indices down and market cap MAD 1.11 billion falls

Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity market began the week on a negative note. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) decreased by 0.34 percent to close at 9,548.78 points (with a year-to-date performance to -0.74 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 485.210 billion (gave away nearly MAD 1.11 billion against previous trading session market cap of MAD 486.316 billion) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 24.147 million (against previous turnover of MAD 110.042 million). Equally, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,802.81 points (fell by 0.35 percent compared to previous trading session). Likewise, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index slumped by  0.34 percent to close at 8,3337.44 points (-5.48 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index declined by 0.43 percent to end at 7,933.59 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -1.58 percent).

In term of sector indices, top gainers were distributions, Real Estate and Telecommunications sector indices added 1.60 percent, 0.81 percent and 0.87 percent respectively. On the contrary, Pharmaceutical Industry sector index (plunged by 4.19 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -4.44 percent), Leisure & Hotels sector index (declined by 4.05 percent to end at -4.05 percent year-to-date return) and Mining sector index (went down by 1.84 percent and -7.36 percent year-to-date return).

SMI led the price gainers chart, by adding 5.68 percent to close at MAD 2,885 and then followed by LABEL VIE closing at MAD 1,298 after climbing by 4.51 percent. Whereas CENTRALE LAITIERE advanced by 3.29 percent to end at MAD 1,100 and ALLIANCES surged by 2.50 percent to settle at MAD 86.10. On the contrary, PROMOPHARM S.A was the top losers a giving way MAD 0.52 or 6.00 percent to close at MAD 822.50. The other losers were MAGHREB OXYGENE and ENNAKL stumbled by 5.96 percent (to settle at MAD 110.45) and 4.33 percent (to end at MAD 39.13) respectively.  Equally, HPS and RISMA plunged by 4.24 percent (with closing price of MAD 440.50) and 4.05 percent (to settle at MAD 205.00) respectively.
