Morocco Equity Watch | 30 June 2015: Morocco equity markets on up tread…Market cap US$ 237 million, MASI Index 42bps up

Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity market retracted yesterday’s loss to end on the north pole. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) increased by 0.42 percent to close at 9,578.34 points (with a year-to-date performance to -0.43 percent).  On the same note, the Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,837.34 points, by adding 0.39 percent compared to previous trading session. Equally, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index surged by 0.23 percent to close at 8,343.79 points (-5.41 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index climbed by 0.41 percent to end at 7,973.11 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -1.09 percent).

The market capitalization was recorded at MAD 486.715 after adding MAD 2.3 billion (relative to yesterday’s market cap of MAD 484.404 billion). The market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 365.794 million. ATTIJARIWAFA BANK is the most actively traded stock with MAD 342.257 million, accounting for about 94 percent of the total traded value. RES DAR SAADA and DOUJA PROM ADDOHA Morocco were the second and third most traded stocks at MAD 3.726 million and MAD 3.522 million respectively.

With regard to sector indices, top gainers were Leisure & Hotels, Holding Companies and Transport sector indices climbed by 5.72 percent, 5.41 percent and 3.24 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Real Estate sector index (plunged by 1.49 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -22.21 percent), Chemicals sector index (declined by 0.38 percent to end at -42.81 percent year-to-date return) and Electricity sector index (went down by 0.08 percent).

Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, FENIE BROSSETE surged by 5.97 percent to end at MAD 129.50 and RISMA climbed by 5.72 percent to settle at MAD 212.50. Likewise, DELTA added 5.56 percent or MAD 1.50 with closing price of MAD 28.50 as well as HPS advanced by 5.56 percent to conclude at MAD 465.00.

Conversely, ALLIANCES and COLORADO somersaulted by 6.01 percent (to settle at MAD 70.50) and 5.75 percent (to end at MAD 72.01) respectively.  Similarly, REALIS MECANIQUES and DOUJA PROM ADDOHA plunged by 3.81 percent (with closing price of MAD 202.00) and 2.54 percent (to settle at MAD 28.45) respectively.
