Morocco Equity Markets | 7 Sep 2015: Morocco Casablanca Stock Exchange equity indices down, but market cap adds US$58 million..

Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) fell by 23.22 points or 0.25 percent to close at 9,284.29  points (with a year-to-date performance to -3.49 percent). The equity market capitalization closed at MAD 570.267 billion (an increase of MAD 569 million or US$ 58 million) from MAD 474.479 market capitalizations recorded at previous trading session.

Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) fell 0.26 percent to close at 7,589,02 from its previous close of 7,608.60 points. FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index sagged by 0.51 points to close at 8,187.88 points (-7.17 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index declined by 0.45 percent to end at 7,800,49 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -3.23 percent).

In terms of sector indices, top gainers were Holding Companies, Forestry & Paper, Transport  and Materials, Software and Computer Services sector indices surged by 4.26 percent, 1.47 percent, 1.18 percent and 0.86 percent respectively. On the other hand, Electricity sector index (sagged by 4.29  percent to close the year-to-date performance at 22.40 percent), Utilities sector index (tumbled by 2.76 percent to end at -12.50 percent year-to-date return) and Food Producers and Processors sector index (slumped by 1.92 percent to end at 14,891.59). 

From the market price movers and shakers, the gainers were, Atlanta Assurances gained 5.9 percent to end at MAD 60.89 and Timar Afrique advanced by 5.85 percent to settle at MAD 398. Likewise, Stockvis jumped by 5.51  percent with closing price of MAD 243.00 as well as Microdata rose by 5.45 percent to settle at MAD 116.00.

On the contrary, CIH Bank and Taqa Morocco slumped by 4.44 percent to settle at MAD 296.25 and sagged by 4.29 percent to end at MAD 590.2 respectively. STROC Industries and  MANAGEM Group declined by 4.02 percent with closing price of MAD 93.00 and fell by 3.49 percent to settle at MAD 801.00 respectively.
