Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — The bull retained its supremacy at the Casablanca Stock Exchange at the end of today’s equity trading session. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) added 0.15 percent to end at 9,122.70 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.17 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 459.057 billion (a gain of MAD 706 million or US$70 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 458.351). The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 32.736 million  relatively to the previous total traded value of MAD 555.132 million.

 The Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,437.77 points (added 0.17 percent relatively to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index grew by 0.42 percent to close at 7,807.41 points (-11.49 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index advanced by 0.17 percent to end at 7,633.22 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.31 percent).

In term of sector indices, top gainers were Holding Companies, Construction & Building Companies and Real Estate sector indices grew by 2.37 percent, 1.32 percent, and 0.36 percent respectively. On the laggards’ side, Distributors sector index (sagged by 2.07 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -0.30 percent), Leisure & Hotels sector index (lost 47.58 percent to end at -43.73 percent year-to-date return) and Mining sector index (dropped -14.23 percent to end at 17,056.12 levels).

Looking at the market price advancers and decliners, the top advancers’ were TASLIF grew by 4.02 percent to close at MAD 44.00 and HOLCIM MAROC added 3.49 percent to settle at MAD 1,780.00. ALLIANCES added 3.21 percent or MAD 1.38 with a closing price of MAD 44.38 and CIMENTS MAROC jumped by 2.65 percent to end at MAD 1,160. ENNAKL surged by 2.47 percent to close at MAD 39.25.

On the decliners’ team, STROC INDUSTRIE and LABEL VIE dropped 5.92 percent (to close at MAD 42.45) and plunged by 5.83 percent (to trade at MAD 1,130.00) respectively. MICRODATA and MINIERE TOUISSIT slumped by 5.79 percent (with a closing price of MAD 113.00) and dropped 4.15 percent (to end at MAD 1,016) respectively. COLORADO sagged by 3.64 percent to end at MAD 74.20.
