Morocco Equity Markets | 22 Sep 2015: Morocco Stock Investors further pocket US$98 Million today, indices higher

Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — Morocco Equity Markets maintained the positive sentiment. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) surged by 0.32 percent to close at 9,116.65 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.23 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 466.470 billion (an increase of MAD 947 million  or US$98 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 465.523). The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 62.912 million compared to MAD 49.798 recorded at previous trading session.

Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,464.11 points (soared by 0.40 percent compared to previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index advanced by 0.57 percent to close at 7,978.79 points (-9.54 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index gained 0.54 percent to end at 7,650.42 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.09 percent).

In term of sector indices, top gainers were Chemical, Leisures & Hotels and Forestry & Paper sector indices advanced by 4.68 percent, 3.78 percent and 2.98 percent respectively. On the negative side, Materials, Software & Computer Services sector index (went down by 1.60 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 0.36 percent), Electricity sector index (lost 0.91 percent to end at 28.24 percent year-to-date return) and Insurance sector index (crashed by 0.80 percent to end at 3,799.37 levels).

Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the leaders’ were, MINIERE TOUISSIT rose by 6.00 percent to end at MAD 1,060.00 and ALLIANCES gained 6.00 percent to settle at MAD 49.82. SALAFIN also added 5.99 percent or MAD 40.10 with closing price of MAD 710.00 as well as SNEP climbed by 5.92 percent to end at MAD 111.80. However, CDM and DISWAY plunged by 5.99 percent (to settle at MAD 460.00) and sagged by 5.99 percent (to trade at MAD 255.40) respectively. SNEP and LAFARGE CIMENTS also sagged by 4.91 percent (with closing price of MAD 105.55) and crashed by 2.50 percent (to settle at MAD 1,600.00) respectively.
