Morocco Equity Markets | 16 Sep 2015: MASI Index close higher, trader pockets US$144 Million …

Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — The Casablanca Bourse equity trading returned to the bullish mood and the Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) rose by 0.36 percent to close at 9,299.90 points (with a year-to-date performance to -3.33 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 474.636 billion (an increase of MAD 1,382 million  or US$144 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 473.254) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 39.873 million.

Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,576.17 points (grew by 0.34 percent compared to previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index advanced by 0.04 percent to close at 8,156.02 points (-7.53 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index soared by 0.90 percent to end at 7,820.39 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -2.98 percent).

In term of sector indices, top gainers were BeveragesDistributors and Materials, Software & Computer Services sector indices advanced by 3.18 percent, 1.96 percent and 1.63 percent respectively. Contrary, Forestry & Paper sector index (fell by 2.79 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -42.36 percent), Utilities sector index (declined by 1.38 percent to end at 14.36 percent year-to-date return) and Mining sector index (sagged by 1.28 percent to end at 17,230.02 levels).

Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the leaders’ were, IB MAROC COM gained 5.93 percent to end at MAD 114.40 and DISWAY soared by 5.85 percent to settle at MAD 179.95. AUTO HALL also gained 5.70 percent or MAD 5.70 with closing price of MAD 105.70 as well as MICRODATA climbed by 5.31 percent to conclude at MAD 116.00. Whereas, S.M MONETIQUE and BMCI plummeted by 4.62 percent (to settle at MAD 186.00) and 3.40 percent (to trade at MAD 598.90) respectively. MED PAPER and MANAGEM also slumped by 2.70 percent (with closing price of MAD 16.04) and 2.59 percent (to settle at MAD 901.00) respectively.
