Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —The Casablanca Stock Exchange started the week and November on a bullish sentiment. The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) advanced by 0.03 percent to end at 9,084.32 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.57 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 457.647 billion (a decrease of MAD 1 million or US$103,413 relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 457.646 billion).

The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 166.520 million compared to MAD 62.987  million recorded at the previous trading session.

Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,394.52 points (lost 0.06 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index sagged by 0.07 percent to close at 7,734.64 points (-12.31 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index edged up by 0.14 percent to close at 7,576.16 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -6.01 percent).

In term of sector indices, top gainers were Beverages, Telecommunications and Real Estate sector indices grew by 5.14 percent, 0.96 percent and 0.50 percent respectively. On the other hand, Holding Companies sector index (sagged by 5.25 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -24.06 percent), Engineering & Equipment sector index (fell by 4.59 percent to end at -45.82 percent year-to-date return) and Insurance sector index (plunged by 3.54 percent to end at 3,711.39 levels).

Looking at the market price gainers and losers, the gainers’ were ALLIANCES advanced by 9.97 percent to close at MAD 39.14 and DARI COUSPATE grew by 6.00 percent to trade at MAD 1,166.00. BRASSERIES DU MAROC also surged by 5.99 percent or MAD 132.00 with a closing price of MAD 2,334.00 as well as MICRODATA soared by 4.35 percent to end at MAD 120.00. S.M. MONETIQUE Morocco increased by 2.94 percent or MAD 5.60 to trade at MAD 196.10.

In the red region, M2M Group and CIH slumped by 5.99 percent (to settle at MAD 211.05) and slid by 5.82 percent (to trade at MAD 276.60) respectively. DELATTRE LEVIVIER and WAFA ASSURANCE also plummeted by 5.61 percent (with a closing price of MAD 191.00) and dropped 5.52 percent (to settle at MAD 3,560.00) respectively. Also, DELTA HOLDING declined by 5.34 percent to settle at MAD 22.50.
