Mauritius Equity Watch | 29 June 2015: Mauritius equity market starts on bearish mood, SEMDEX and SEM10 indices tumble

Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets started the week on a negative region. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) tumbled by 0.06 percent or 1.27 points to close 1,980.11 points and the SEM10 fell by 0.07 percent or 0.26 points to end at 378.26 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 220.144 billion and overall total volume trade recorded at 66.799 million with turnover amounted to MUR 103.404 million.

The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited with 66.126 million volume and turnover of MUR 58.099 million and LUX RESORTS Limited recorded 608,865 traded securities with turnover of MUR 38.360 million. Equally, MCB GROUP had 27,106 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 5.888 million and BLUELIFE Limited ended with a volume of 14,000 traded shares with turnover of MUR 65,220.

The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (leaders/laggards ratio) calculated at 0.25x with 2 price leaders and 8 price laggards. On the leaders list were ENL COMMERCIAL rose 0.72 percent to close at MUR 21.00 and FINCORP increased by 0.50 percent to settle at MUR 20.20 and MCB Group climbed by 0.70 percent to end at MUR 216.50. On the contrary, PIM declined by 3.04 percent to trade at MUR 71.75 and ENL LAND Limited (P) plunged by 1.15 percent to trade at MUR 43.00. Still on laggards, LOTTOTECH plummeted by 1.13 percent to close at MUR 5.24 and VIVO Energy Limited tumbled by 0.59 percent to close at MUR 126.00.

On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index gained 0.18 percent or 0.37 points to close at 206.75 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.137 and market turnover of MUR 3.543 million exchanged in 18,058 traded securities. SIT LAND HDG OPT lost 7.41 percent to trade at MUR 12,500. On the other hand, EUDCOS, CONSTANCE HOTEL, CIEL TEXTILE Limited and ENL Limited (P) added 1.35 percent, 1.23 percent, 0.26 percent and 0.16 percent respectively
