PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — The Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity markets trading closed the week in a positive mood. The equity market capitalization ended at MUR 209.520 billion.  The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) grew by 0.07 percent or 1.36 points to close at 1,881.44 and SEM10 index advanced by 0.14 percent or 0.51 points to end at 361.11 points.

From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 13,745,191 and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 29.105 million.

The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 13,403,956 (about 97.52 percent of total volume) at MUR 10.589 million and CIEL Limited registered 75,1000 traded stocks amounted to MUR 510,600. New Mauritius Hotel exchanged 63,600 shares at a turnover of MUR 1.144 million and MCB Group recorded a total volume of 59,100 shares at MUR 12.468 million. Rogers & Co Limited also recorded 23,025 shares at MUR 674,475.

From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 31 traded securities there were 7 price gainers and 6 price losers, hence the market sentiment ended in positive. LOTTOTECH Limited soared by 3.23 percent to end at MUR 3.20, Rogers & Co Limited surged by 1.72 percent to close at MUR 29.50 and New Mauritius Hotels Limited (Preference) added 1.49 percent to settle at MUR 10.25. Also, CAUDAN Limited ended at MUR 1.25 after gaining 0.81 percent and CIEL Limited grew by 0.59 percent to trade at MUR 6.80.

On the laggards’ chart, TERRA Limited closed at MUR 29.00 after sagging by 1.69 percent and OMNICANE Limited slipped by 1.47 percent to settle at MUR 67.00. Also, POLICY Mauritius Limited sagged by 0.90 percent to settle at MUR 6.64, Harel Mallac Limited plunged by 0.52 percent to end at MUR 95.00 and BLUELIFE Limited ended at MUR 4.24 after losing 0.47 percent.

The DEMEX index ended at 199.99 points after adding 0.06 points or 0.03 percent. The market capitalization closed at MUR 49.173 billion.  The total value traded was MUR 648,046 million exchanged in 19,234 traded securities. FIDES Limited surged by 0.78 percent to trade at MUR 65.00 and EUDCOS  grew by 0.68 percent to settle at MUR 14.80.
