Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 9th 2015: BRVM equity market cap adds XOF 108 billion, indices rise

Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) BRVM closed its trading session this Tuesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 274.10 to 277.74 points, a gain of 1.33%. BRVM Composite index gained 1.61% to 274.81 against 270.46 points previously. Likewise, the equity market capitalization gained XOF 107.82 billion to close at XOF 6,781.11 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,673.82 billion.

In term of market activity, today trading activity higher compared to previous day. The total volume was recorded at 824,820 compared to volume of 331,173 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 1,099.801 million (against XOF 864.463 million recorded at yesterday trading session).  Out of the 39 listed securities 27 were traded in 211 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 780,218 traded shares (accounted for almost 95 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest turnover of XOF 884.346 million (accounted of about 80.4 percent). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 76.83 percent and Price Earning Ratio was recorded at 23.91.

Looking at the market price movers’, out of the 25 traded securities there were 14 price gainers, 9 price losers and 4 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end on a positive note. NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE tops the gainers’ table, by adding 7.50 percent to close at XOF 6,235.00. Other gainers were BOLLORE AF. LOGISTICS COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 7.50 percent to close at XOF 193,500 and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to conclude at XOF 46,235. Likewise, UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 7.49 percent to settle at XOF 32,415 and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE edged by 7.48 percent with a closing price of XOF 27,575.

On the other hand, SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 6.98 percent to trade at XOF 38,000 and SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 2.54 percent to close at XOF 9,600. Equally, ONATEL BURKINA FASO and TOTAL SENEGAL plummeted by 1.24 percent and 1.09 percent to close at XOF 8,395.00 and XOF 27,200 respectively.

From sector viewpoint, industry sector index, financial services, distributions and transportation sector indices rose by 3.10 percent, 2.14 percent and 7.36 percent respectively. On the other hand, agriculture and miscellaneous sector indices fell by 0.39 percent and 6.98 percent.
